The CATT™ Center is in sync with Universal Design to benefit the gifted, average or struggling child where all products, environments and teaching are effective to as many students as possible. Universal Design accommodates students with disabilities, strengths and weaknesses in various areas, behaviors or attention concerns. (Barrier-Free Design, Accessible Design, Design For All, Inclusive Design)
Response to Intervention (RtI) is a method where the teacher collects data over time and adjusts instruction until the child achieves success. A teacher will change instruction (intervention) to help a struggling child and then check on progress on a regular basis (monitoring) to see if the intervention is effective. If intervention is not working, the teacher will change the instruction and monitor progress. If the intervention is working, it should remain in place and be monitored as long as it continues to be effective. This process will continue until the child improves.
